What you actually get
Each pattern is a properly laid-out, printable PDF — written so a beginner can follow it without getting lost.
Written in standard US terms with a stitch count at the end of every round, so you always know where you are.
Pictures for the shaping, colour changes and assembly — the moments where it helps to see what you're aiming for.
Exactly which hook, yarn weight and few notions you'll need — plus beginner notes for the fiddly bits.
After payment, your PDF is emailed straight to you — yours to keep, print, or read on your phone.
The maker
Elizabeth Rector is a small one-person pattern studio in Chesapeake, Virginia. Every design starts as a doodle, becomes a slightly wonky first attempt, and only turns into a pattern once it's behaving itself.
I started writing my patterns down because friends kept asking how I'd made this or that little creature — and my scribbled notes were impossible to follow. So I rewrote them properly: every round spelled out, every stitch counted, and a photo wherever I remembered tripping up.
Before a pattern goes in the shop I stitch it at least twice — once to write it, then again from the written words to make sure the counts and shaping actually work when you follow them. Anything tricky gets a photo and a plain-English note.
If you make something from one of my patterns, I'd love to see it — write to me any time at elizabethrector.site@proton.me.

Yes — that's exactly who I write for. Each listing shows an honest difficulty level, and patterns marked Beginner use only the basic stitches with extra notes for the magic ring and invisible decrease.
Every listing shows the hook size and yarn weight up front, and the PDF includes a full materials list. The exact brand and colour are always up to you.

Because patterns are delivered as instant digital files, sales are generally final once the PDF has been sent. That said, I always want you to be happy — if you're charged incorrectly, can't open your file, or receive the wrong pattern, just email me and I'll put it right. Full details are in the refund policy.

Orders are placed by email rather than through an automatic checkout. You choose the patterns you'd like and send us your order (the basket's “Email my order” button fills this in for you). Because patterns are delivered as instant digital files, our Refund Policy explains when a refund is and isn't possible. We always aim to make things right if something has gone wrong.
Please don't use this site for anything unlawful or attempt to disrupt it. We may decline or cancel an order we reasonably believe is fraudulent or breaches these terms.
Patterns are tested with care and offered in good faith. Results naturally vary with the yarn, hook and tension you use, so we can't guarantee an identical finished item. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to a pattern is limited to the amount you paid for it. Nothing here removes consumer rights that can't be waived.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
We may update these terms from time to time. The version shown here when you order is the one that applies to your order.

Every product is delivered as a digital file. Once a pattern has been emailed to you and downloaded it can't be “returned” the way a physical item can, so as a general rule all sales are final once the PDF has been sent.
That general rule doesn't stop us looking after you. We'll gladly arrange a fix or refund if:
Email elizabethrector.site@proton.me with your name and a short note about the problem. The more detail you give, the faster we can sort it out.
We aim to reply within 1–2 business days. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method through our payment provider; the time to appear depends on your bank or card issuer.
If anything seems wrong, please contact us first — we can almost always fix it faster than a chargeback, and a quick email saves everyone the hassle.
Some customers (for example in the EU and UK) have a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase within 14 days. For downloadable content that right ends once the download begins with your consent. Nothing in this policy affects consumer rights that can't legally be waived.
